6 Performance 6.1 General test methods 6.1.1 This clause provides test methods intended for all components. Later clauses provide component specific test methods. Where a conflict exists between the general test method and the specific test methods, the specific test method shall apply. A summary of components and specific test methods is provided in Annex B. Note: Some components are exempt from some tests. 6.1.2 Testing shall be conducted on finished components and containers that are representative of normal production (including a protective coating if part of the design unless otherwise specified) and complete with identification marks. All tests shall be conducted or witnessed by an independent inspection or test agency, which is nationally recognized within the United States or Canada or recognized by the Authority Having Jurisdiction. Test reports shall be kept on file by the component manufacturer and made available to the integrator on request. 6.1.3 This Standard references other standards that might not take into account temperature, pressure, and environmental conditions for compressed hydrogen gas systems. Since these conditions can affect material or operating characteristics of components, they shall be taken into account and utilized when evaluating the components to the referenced standard. The components shall comply under such conditions with the provisions of the referenced standard. 6.1.4 If a value for measurement as given in this Standard is followed by an equivalent value in other units, the first stated value is to be regarded as the specification.
7 Check valve 7.1 Scope This clause specifies performance and general test methods for newly produced compressed hydrogen gas check valves intended for use on hydrogen gas powered industrial truck applications or other heavy duty industrial applications, as listed in Clause 1.1. 7.2 Marking Marking of the check valve shall be in accordance with Clause 4.10 and the requirements of Clause 8.2, Marking, of ANSI HGV 3.1. 7.3 Construction and assembly Check valves shall comply with Clauses 4, 5, and 6 and the tests specified in Clause 7.4 of this Standard. 7.4 Check valve — performance 7.4.1 Check valve requirements The applicable tests for check valves are listed in Annex B. 7.4.2 Leakage Check valves shall be subjected to the leakage requirements of Clause 8.4.1, Leakage, of ANSI HGV 3.1, at the temperatures and pressures given in Table 2.
7.4.3 Continuous operation 7.4.3.1 Requirements A check valve shall be capable of withstanding 50 000 cycles of operation, in accordance with Clause 6.7, and 240 hours of chatter flow (see Clause 7.4.3.3), when submitted to the following test procedure. 7.4.3.2 Cycling Check valves shall be subjected to the cycling requirements of Clause 8.4.2.1, Cycling, of ANSI HGV 3.1. 7.4.3.3 Chatter flow Following 50 000 cycles of operation (see Clause 7.4.3.2), subject the check valve to 240 hours of chatter flow at a flow rate that causes the most chatter. At the completion of the test, the check valve shall comply with the leakage requirement specified in Clause 7.4.2. 8 Manual valve 8.1 Scope This clause specifies performance and general test methods for newly produced compressed hydrogen manual valves intended for use on hydrogen gas powered industrial truck-applications or other heavy duty industrial applications as listed in Clause 1.1. Applies to permanently mounted valves. Valves that are added for the purpose of service are not covered. This part of this Standard does not apply to manual container valves. 8.2 Marking Marking of the manual valve shall be in accordance with Clause 4.10 and the requirements of , Clause 9.2, Marking, of ANSI HGV 3.1.
9 Manual container valve 9.1 Scope This clause specifies performance and general test methods for newly produced compressed hydrogen gas manual container valves intended for use on hydrogen gas powered industrial truck applications or other heavy duty industrial applications as listed in Clause 1.1. 9.2 Marking Marking of the manual container valve shall be in accordance with Clause 4.10 and the requirements of Clause 10.2, Marking, of ANSI HGV 3.1. 9.3 Construction and assembly 9.3.1 Manual container valves shall comply with Clauses 4, 5, and 6 and the tests specified in Clause 9.4 of this Standard. 9.3.2 Manual container valves shall have a handle securely mounted to the valve stem or active member. 9.3.3 If a manual container valve handle has a 90° rotation (quarter turn) from “on” to “off” positions it shall be provided with rigidly secured stops to limit rotation. 9.3.4 Manual container valves having 90° of rotation (quarter turn) from “on” to “off” positions shall have the handles perpendicular to the direction of flow at the valve inlet when in the “off” position. 9.3.5 Manual container valves having more than 90° rotation shall move to the “off” position when rotated clockwise.CSA HPIT 1-2015 pdf download.
